Great new article from Mark Engler and Mike Daisey on Apple factories in China. Mark Engler stated that "Apple's public relations department hasn't had a great month. The labor practices of the factories in China that make iPads and iPhones have been in the spotlight, and the scene being revealed is not pretty."
Do yourself a favor: listen to Mike Daisey’s amazing story from This American Life about visiting the factory in China that makes our iPhones, iPads et all.
Big shout out to Leif Steen… A graphic designer currently living and working in London. He recently completed an MA in Graphic Design from the London college of Communication and he featured a little piece of my mind in a book project of his which can be viewed here. The title of the project is 'Wandering' which visually explores our surroundings based on different theories of psychogegraphy.

Pete Rossi, recently named Art Directors Club Young Gun (in the same class as previously featured Dana Tanamachi) hails from just outside of Glasgow, graduating in ’06 from the Glasgow School of Art. He has since taken his skills from UK to mainland Europe, working in the process for the likes of El Studio, Coast Design and Studio Astrid Stavro amongst others. Nice work, bright future.
Fascinating articles and interesting subjects discussed by Mark Engler of Democracy Uprising. The website contains a collection of articles written by him that bring a progressive and internationalist perspective to critical issues facing society. The site rejects narrow specialization and instead seeks to draw connections between militarism, globalization, labor, immigration, Latin American affairs, electoral politics, religion, and the environment.

Have a tip top mention over at Form Fifty Five today posted by Rydo — Thanks buddy!
Well travelled Italian Scots designer Pete Rossi has spent some time this year working at the fantastic Studio Astrid Stavro in Mallorca, where he had a chance to work on some great publishing projects. The Spanish Advertising Annual 2011 ‘Club de Creativos’ is well worth a look; it features exquisite pencil drawn illustrations on uncoated paper stock in the annual’s ‘Ideas’ section, contrasted beautifully with full colour reproductions on coated paper for the ‘Execution’ section.
Pete has also recently returned from a visit stateside, where he was bestowed with the honour of Young Gun 2011 by the Art Directors Club of New York. A truly impressive achievement, doing Scottish design proud — congratulations Pete.
